You Too Can Have that Cool (OBX) Sticker on Your Car

Nags Head vacation rentals and OBX vacation rentals are all the rage this summer as your vacation destination. If you want the hippest underground vacation scene, consider some Outer Banks house rentals now, before they are all scooped up and the Banks become too popular. It is in a beautiful limbo being popular enough that it gets all of the best restaurants, facilities and attractions, but not too popular that it has become overwhelmingly crowded and unbearably tourist trappy. If that is not enough reason to consider some Outer banks rentals, sit back and hold tight.

First of all, what are the Outer Banks? If you look on a map of North Carolina, you will see a 130 mile, skinny strip of islands running up the east of the map. There they are.

Kitty Hawk, North Carolina is smack dab in the middle of the Outer Banks. Why does that sound so familiar? Kitty Hawk? Was some celebrity spotted there recently? No, not recently. But the technology that allows man to fly was developed there. That is right. Kitty Hawk is where the grand daddies of flight, brothers Orville and Wilbur Wright, flew their first test planes in the Outer Banks. Why did they choose the Outer Banks? The air. The way the islands are set up, the wind off of the water offers a great deal of lift that makes flight that much easier. That is one of the major reasons why hang gliding, kite surfing and para gliding are so darn popular in the Outer Banks. So get in touch with history, touch the sky, and glide on over to your Obx rentals.

Another historical tidbit to encourage your OBX vacation rentals is the presence of Roanoke Island. This island is where Sir Walter Raleigh’s colony of 128 people mysteriously disappeared in the late 16th century, and has never been found to this day. More tragic yet fascinating history surrounds the Outer Banks yet. Because of its geographical set up, the waters around the Outer Banks have been witness to over 1,000 ship sinkings since 1526, earning it the nickname Graveyard of the Atlantic.

When considering vacation options, put OBX vacation rentals on the top of your list. The amount of cool history, coupled with the fascinating location and gorgeous area make the Outer Banks one of the best vacation spots around.
